Better Than Any History Class

Last year I went on one of those walking holidays in Spain with my parents. I expected it to be boring, mostly because I was with my parents, but also because of history class. History always bored me, and when we were covering Spain in class, I had no interest in it whatsoever. So, when it came time for us to take the trip, I was less than enthusiastic. I even tried to get out of going at one point, so I could lounge around the house. I’m glad that my parents took me along on the trip, because I had more fun than I could have imagined.

Going through the different areas didn’t just feel like different country to me. It was like we were on a new planet entirely. I’m a firm believer in hands on learning now, because I learned a lot more while walking through Spain than I ever did while sitting in my history class, trying not to fall asleep in my text book. While there, we ate some of what I consider to be the best food on Earth. I always thought the food back home was nice, but the food in Spain beats it easily. Maybe it’s because I’m not used to eating the food every day, but I bet even the locals in Spain would agree that their food is better than our food.

Although my parents can be a bit lame sometimes, they have their moments, and the trip to Spain was one of their best ideas. I guess all it takes is a trip to a foreign country for them to be cool. We’re going to have a trip again in a couple of months. Although we’ll probably go to a new country, I wouldn’t mind going back to Spain again.
